A hugely popular beach with locals and tourists alike, Agios (sometimes spelled “Aghios”) Gordios Beach is instantly recognizable thanks to the “ortholithi” rock, a massive pillar, jutting out of the sea just off shore at the northern end of the beach.

One of the reasons for the great popularity of this lovely beach is the shallow water that is safe for swimming for adults and children alike.
Located about 9 miles (15 kilometers) southwest of the town of Corfu, this is a very busy beach in high season, and parking won’t be easy.
It is a long, gently curved beach, very much exposed to the direct sun, with an ease to its personality despite the number of people who flock here (and still try to
ensure it’s Corfu’s best-kept secret!). Beach-goers will find no restrooms on the beach, a great excuse to pop into a taverna for a break.
Dotted with cute tavernas, restaurants and bars, Agios Gordios Beach affords many pleasures beyond sunbathing and swimming, and because there are no mooring facilities, the boat traffic
is very low. Being so close to the main city, it’s often a day-trip destination, but get there early! This is the beach you were hoping to find on a dreamy island.
