Grand Bend has a couple of nicknames, one being “The Bend”, affectionately applied by the adults and families that visit the north end of the long beach and dine at the finer establishments in the village. The other is “The Bender”, coined by the young and fashionable set that inhabits and plays at the southern end of the beach and dances the night away in the many bars and pubs.

Grand Bend is a beach and town of opposites, and yet there is no friction between the two factions. The 2,000-person population grows to 50,000 in the summer and the prevailing attitude is that everybody gets to enjoy the summer here while the weather is good.

Beach area activities include salmon fishing off the pier, swimming, boating, beach volleyball, and collecting shells and rocks. In the immediate area are golf courses, soccer fields, horseback riding trails and the Bluewater Playhouse theater company. You can even skydive with a local outfit!

Grand Bend is about fun in the summer sun on one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, so large you can’t see the other side. The beat is lively here, from music to games, and not for beach fans that want solitude and quiet. Pump it up a little and have a blast at The Bend.
