This picturesque, very secluded and private series of beaches comprises six coves with deep bays, incredible turquoise to deep blue waters and high
cliffs that cradle each cove with a feeling of being wrapped in sun, sand and sea.
There is natural shade here thanks to trees and lush vegetation that surround the beach, including fragrant lemon, olive and cypress trees. Blue/green waters slide into
the U-shaped coves and provide gentle waves that make for good swimming and some fine water sports activities.
On the tops of surrounding hills is a smattering of buildings. One of them, starkly white against the greenery and the blue skies, is a Byzantine monastery (now a museum)
called “Panagia Paleokastritissa”; it’s very worth a visit and its gold-leafed icons will fascinate.
With clear water and almost no wind, Paleokastritsa Beach is a grand escape in the modest Corfu style of vacations.
