From Playa Bush Beach, you can see the nearby South Point Lighthouse; it’s within hiking distance of the beach, if the day is not too hot, and it’s a pleasant walk to a photogenic spot. This is the beach where you’ll need a broad-brimmed hat and sunscreen, especially from ten in the morning until about three in the afternoon.

The beach operations folks try to combat the heat by providing rope hammocks strung up beneath a wood trellis, but all agree that the best way to beat the heat is to relax with a cold Corona beer at the bar or sit chin-deep in the ocean (or both!).

The beach bar and restaurant on Playa Bush Beach has a Rastafarian theme, with the colors of Jamaica painted around the palm tree trunks; the restaurant plays mostly Bob Marley music on its stereo, and it’s sometimes hard to remember that you’re really in Mexico!

Nearby, blowholes spout like the spray from whales and entertain for hours as they puff and spurt every few minutes when the tide is high. This provides for many giggles for children and adults alike.

Things seem to move more slowly at Playa Bush Beach than anywhere else on Cozumel. Some believe its just that time has been arrested and life has taken the lazy route, but it might just be the intense heat and the dizziness the sun can create when it makes you deliriously content. The trick is always recreating that sensation when you are back home.
